The Journey begins

Our adventure started on Thursday night.  DD12 had a swim meet that we had to attend before we left.

After that, we left around 8:30 pm for the drive to MSP.  We chose to book a Park n Stay Hotel near MSP for the night.  Our nightly rate included the 9 days of parking we needed.  MSP would have charged me more than our night's stay for parking while we were gone.  It was a great deal!  We didn't actually roll into the cities until around 12:30 a.m. so we were pretty tired and went right to bed.

Friday morning, it was a simple matter of catching the 8:15 (prebooked) hotel shuttle to the Terminal 1 airport.  Our driver was hilarious.  He told us the story of the FAA Big Dog who spent millions of dollars on a study because people were confused by the 2 terminal names: Lindberg & Humphrey.  So, after all that research, they came up with the new names of: 1 & 2. . .

We were finally on our way with US Airways!

A brief stop in Philadelphia. . . well ok, maybe 3.5 hours.  I admired my Bobs (fake Toms) that my sister painted with Winnie-the-Pooh.

Philadelphia airport was kind of chaotic.  Our pilot decided to give us the grand tour of the runways.  We taxied all the way up one runway and then taxied back the other side.  Maybe he was looking for the perfect spot to take off?

Finally, after a 45 minute delay, we were off!  Next stop: San Juan.  We arrived into SJU at about 10:30 pm.  Exhausted and ready to call it a day.  There was some bit of panic while waiting for luggage, as Hubby's suitcase was the very last one out. . .

Found the taxi stand and caught a cab to the Sheraton OSJ.  Cost was $27.  Kids got ready for bed while we grabbed takeaway burgers at Chicago Burgers, which was right next door.

It is now almost 10:00 a.m. and we are impatiently waiting for the right time to leave for the pier.  Kids and hubby slept in until 9 and it is now raining outside so no fort tours for us :(

Check in at the Port is 11:30 for us.  Can't wait!

To be continued from aboard the DISNEY MAGIC. . .
